Weekly Market Summary
A U.S. cryptocurrency platform Bakkt announced the launch of the Bakkt Visa debit card, which will allow customers to use cryptocurrencies for online purchases.
Cardholders will be able to spend bitcoins from their Bakkt accounts without a need to convert the cryptocurrency into fiat.
The price of bitcoin dropped slightly below $30,000 during the last few days of volatile trading. Bitcoin’s price reached this level for the first time since January, thereby, wiping out almost all of its gains for the year.
Bitcoin fell by as much as 12% on Tuesday, June 22. It reached $28,824 in the last leg of a sell-off that has pulled the cryptocurrency down more than 50% from it’s ATH. It recovered later in the day to around $32,000.
Drop in Bitcoin has cascaded across the digital asset market, knocking “alt-coins” such as Ethereum and Dogecoin.

“There’s nothing stopping us from doing that. We will be guided by the wishes of our customers,” Barra said.
Green BTC
Musk has hit back at the chief executive of the Kraken crypto exchange, who said BTC is “a lot greener than people give it credit for.”
Responding to the statement on Twitter, Musk said: “Based on what data?” It marked a renewal of Musk’s argument with crypto die-hards over Bitcoin, which he has said is environmentally damaging due to the “insane” energy use required for the computing work that secures the network and creates new coins.

SafeMoon is a decentralized financial protocol (DeFi) launched in March 2021. The name SafeMoon is a reference to the phrase “to the moon,” used on social media by crypto traders expecting Dogecoin prices to rise.
A community behind SafeMoon has set the goal to reward long-term holders of the token by passing on to them a slice of the profits from sales fees. This is how they want to prevent prices from being artificially inflated through collusion. That helps investors make maximum profit in the short term. SafeMoon charges a general fee of 10% on all sales. Of this, 5% is distributed and passed on to SafeMoon holders.
