BTC Breaks Above $23K, Tether Crowned as Most Traded Crypto

Weekly Market Summary

This morning, Bitcoin broke past $23,500 for the first time ever, leaving us officially in uncharted territory. The number of days we’ve lived with a higher price than today? ZERO.

Here’s how Bitcoin has performed over the past two times it broke new all-time highs, over the years:

• 2013: In less than one year, Bitcoin went from $30 to $1,100 (up 3,500%)
• 2017: In less than one year, Bitcoin went from $1,100 to $20,000 (up 1,800%)
• 2020: Bitcoin goes from $23,500 to ???

Time will tell what happens next. But if the history gives us any indication, we may be in for a ride…

– Huobi’s HUSD Stablecoin to Run on Nervos Blockchain

– The Singapore government has launched an $8.99-million program to advance blockchain commercial applications within the city-state.

Ethereum, Nervos?

Huobi’s stablecoin HUSD will be also issued on another blockchain, Nervos, through the sUDT technical standard. HUSD tokens already exist on Ethereum in the ERC-20 form and are pegged to dollars reserved by Paxos Trust Company. Nervos is sometimes called China’s answer to Ethereum, and the new HUSDT stablecoin will be backed by Stable Universal Limited affiliated with Huobi, one of the ‘Big Three’ Chinese exchanges.

Blockchain R&D

The Singapore government has launched an $8.99-million program to push forward the development of commercial blockchain applications within the city-state. The nation’s National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Singapore Blockchain Innovation Programme will work with multinational corporations, large enterprises and IT firms to research and develop 17 blockchain-based projects, to help the city-state become ‘more globally connected’, especially in the times of coronavirus.
