Bitcoin is trying to break a record high, Coinbase announced impressive results

Weekly Market Summary

A  4% decline in bitcoin price was seen  on  April, 7, as the cryptocurrency continued the attempts to break the $60,000 level.

Sellers outweighed buyers  at  $60,000 with ethereum, litecoin and XRP going down 6%, 8% and 13% respectively, as of Wednesday morning.

It might likely take more buying pressure for bitcoin to break above its all-time high of more than $61,000 reached in mid-March. Since hitting those highs, bitcoin has been traded mostly sideways and failed to push through $60,000 three  times.

Coinbase has announced impressive first-quarter results in their report. The bountiful revenue, revealed in the company’s Q1 earnings call, dwarfs its $190-million revenue from the same time last year, with the company attributing a portion of this explosive growth to Bitcoin’s (BTC) bull market.

Also, the company is spending a lot of money to acquire new customers. Coinbase intends to increase its sales and marketing expenditure to  12%-15% of last year’s net revenue in an effort to drive “meaningful growth in 2021.”

Ebang

Chinese Bitcoin mining hardware manufacturer Ebang International has announced the launch of its own cryptocurrency exchange, Ebonex.

With both spot and margin trading available, the exchange supports more than a dozen major digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Chainlink (LINK), Polkadot (DOT), and Cardano (ADA), as well as the so-called ‘privacy coins’–Monero (XMR), Dash (DASH), and Zcash (SEC).

Crypto-city

Senegalese-American rapper and businessperson Akon is set to begin building another crypto city. Akon City in Uganda will occupy one square mile half the size of the City of London.The city will utilize Akon’s Stellar blockchain-based cryptocurrency Akoin (AKN).

Akon stated that the crypto city will help to attract more investments to the country while also creating employment opportunities for Ugandans. Akon City in Uganda is expected to be completed by 2036.
