Chinese authorities have demanded McDonald’s to add support for the digital yuan before the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing start.

Being a part of pilot trials, McDonald’s accepts digital currency at 270 locations in Shanghai, but now the chain needs to expand a trial of its digital yuan payments system throughout the country.

Previously, Visa and Nike were in a similar situation.

Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said that the largest US investment company Invesco has refused to launch a US Bitcoin futures exchange-traded fund (ETF) just before the first-ever such fund begins trading.

The firm filed to delay the listing Monday and said it will focus on a physically-backed Bitcoin ETF.

Coinbase signs multi-year sponsorship deal with NBA and WNBA

American exchange Coinbase has partnered with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) to act as their exclusive crypto sponsor.

The NBA announcement stated, “Beginning with tonight’s tip off of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary season, Coinbase will have a brand presence featured during nationally televised games. The company will also become the presenting partner of the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup and the USA Basketball men’s and women’s national team exhibition tours, as well as a partner of NBA G League Ignite.”

Coinbase Chief Marketing Officer, Kate Rouch stated that “The freedom to participate and benefit from the things you believe in is at the heart of Coinbase’s mission. Nobody believes this more than NBA and WNBA fans. We’re proud to become the Leagues’ official cryptocurrency partner. As part of the partnership, we will create interactive experiences to engage with the NBA and WNBA’s incredible community and athletes around the world.”

Facebook chooses Coinbase

The social network Facebook has chosen the American crypto exchange Coinbase as a custodian partner for the storage of data for the Novi crypto wallet.

Coinbase supports Novi through Coinbase Custody, which keeps users’ funds safe with a fully segregated cold storage facility for managing private keys.

Novi is a crypto wallet from Facebook that allows people to send and receive money abroad instantly, securely and without commission. Currently supports the Paxos Dollar (USDP) stablecoin.

Spot trading: At the spot trading front, Bitcoin (BTC) and SHIBA INU (SHIB) have become top dogs. Ethereum (ETH) and THETA (THETA) were pushed to third and fourth places.
Derivatives: Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC) have become the most traded currencies as to trading derivatives. Solana (SOL) is following these two head to head with Raydium (RAY) and Automata Network (ATA) taking fourth and fifth places.

The Tiger King is the most recent meme coin released on the Ethereum network in May 2020. The cryptocurrency is claiming to be the “official coin” of the popular Netflix series Tiger King. The documentary series, which launched in March 2020, explored the bizarre underworld of Tiger breeding.

Its goal is to create decentralized applications “by building its use-cases from the community.” There are currently four dApps that are featured on the Tiger King website:

EtherLIFT — a gas fee sponsorship application for advertisers to reach users of the Ethereum blockchain;
ChainChat — a private peer-to-peer messenger over the blockchain;
TigerTracks — a graphical representation of data on the blockchain;

XRP currency runs on a RippleNet digital payment platform, which is on top of a distributed ledger database called XRP Ledger. The coin can be sent directly without an intermediary.
