The head of the SEC threatened the crypto industry, calling cryptocurrencies “a highly speculative asset class, the value of which in many cases is determined by nothing but the willingness of investors to pay.”

American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced the official launching of Coinbase Prime to all institutions. In a single solution, Coinbase Prime combines advanced trading, battle-tested custody and financing.

Also, they continued to add more venues to their smart router which allows Coinbase clients to achieve the best available price, adds more assets to their custody capabilities and enhances their post-trade reporting capabilities.

Snoop Dogg’s alter ego owns $18 million in NFT

Snoop Dogg revealed his hidden identity “Cozomo de ‘Medici”, who collects valuable NFTs.

According to DappRadar portal, Cozomo de Medici’s wallet contains around $18 million worth of collectibles.

The collection is topped by nine CryptoPunks, with the most valuable of the NFTs valued at $4.6 million at current market prices. The wallet also contains 10 NFT Meebits – 3D avatars created by the creators of CryptoPunks by Larva Labs as well as many different NFTs from the Art Blocks series of generative art.

No defaults as long as the printing press is running

This week, China’s second-largest real estate developer China Evergrande Group announced that it is on the verge of default and has a debt of around 2 trillion yuan (~$305bn).

Evergrande needs to make 15 bond payments by the end of the year, starting September 23 (around $20 billion per payment).

China Evergrande Group’s shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange plummeted more than 10%, dragging the entire Hong Kong stock market with it.

Markets shuddered after catching a flashback from 2008-2009 with Lehman and began to correct.

Today, the Central Bank of China has printed $18.6 billion to pay off the developer’s debt.

• Spot trading: At the spot trading front, Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH) have become new favorites. Bitcoin (BTC) and Algorand (ALGO) were pushed to third and fourth places.
• Derivatives: Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) have become the most traded currencies as to trading derivatives. Raydium (RAY) is following these two head to head with TRON (TRX) and Solana (SOL) taking fourth and fifth places.

According to the SHIBA INU website, SHIB is the “DOGECOIN KILLER” and will be listed on their own ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange.

It was launched anonymously in August 2020 and soon acquired popularity and value as a community of investors were lured in by the currency’s adorable appeal and headlines and Tweets from celebrities like Elon Musk and Vitalik Buterin.

Shiba Inu aimed to be the Ethereum-based counterpart to Dogecoin’s Srypt-based mining algorithm. Shiba Inu and the SHIB token are part of a swarm of dog-themed cryptocurrencies, including BabyDoge, DOGE, JIND, LAS, and LASM.
