Shiba Inu is a new leader among meme coins, Internet Computer (ICP) became a top-10 cryptocurrency

Weekly Market Summary

Shiba Inu (SHIB) is its name, and this ERC20 token running on the Ethereum network is rapidly making waves as an alternative investment to Dogecoin. According to CoinMarketCap, SHIB’s current price is $0.00002692, its market cap is nearly $10.7 billion. SHIB is up more than 2 million percent since its inception (July 31, 2020 via CoinMarketCap), well above even Bitcoin or Ethereum’s rise since their respective starts.

Traders valued Internet Computer (ICP) at $630 in its debut on Coinbase on Monday, May, 10. On Binance, however, the dollar bids for the token surged to as high as $3,093 as of Tuesday, May, 11. Meanwhile, HitBTC reported ICP at a peak of roughly $407.

The huge price differences across multiple cryptocurrency exchanges showed a berserk trading sentiment in the Internet Computer market, landing ICP in the list of top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, surpassing even veterans such as XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE) and Cardano (ADA), and reaching as high as the fourth spot.

– Palantir might add BTC to its balance sheet 

– ETH breaks $500-billion market cap

Palantir 

Palantir Technologies, an American big data software company, is considering adding Bitcoin to its balance sheet. In addition to Bitcoin, Palantir said, it might  consider holding other cryptocurrencies on its balance sheet.

Palantir stock (PLTR) is down 22% in 2021 so far, so some onlookers might see the Bitcoin announcement as a short-term effort to boost shares.

Ethereum

Gemini and Mastercard will launch this summer credit cards which give users “rewards” for purchases in cryptocurrency. 

The company promises up to 3% cash back on just about every swipe. Although holders spend in dollars, they’ll get a portion of them back in Bitcoin or over 30 other cryptocurrencies on the exchange, including Ethereum, Dai stablecoin, and Uniswap’s UNI token. Gemini says rewards will appear instantly in customers’ accounts, not monthly.
